Module 1: The 12 Archetypes

THE EVOLUTION OF INSIGHT

In our foundational training, in order to grasp the different behavioural types, you met the four 'pure' energies: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance.

However, in the high-stakes world of executive leadership, "pure types" are a personality myth.  You are actually a Mosaic—a blend of two or more of them in different portions.

[ HOVER TO REVEAL BLENDS ]

The Archetypes:
The 12 Primary Blends

A. The Architect   vs  The Specialist

The Architect (Dominance / Compliance):

They seek Efficient Authority.  They want the win, and they want the system to be perfect so the win is repeatable.

The Specialist (Compliance / Dominance):

They seek Technical Accuracy.  They aren't just trying to win;  they need to be correct.

Architect Example

STEVE JOBS: THE ARCHITECT

Specialist Example

ALAN TURING: THE SPECIALIST

B. The Catalyst   vs  The Motivator

The Catalyst (Dominance / Influence):

They seek Visionary Momentum. They use charisma to steamroll obstacles.

Motto: "Of course you can do this! I’m giving you the tools."

The Motivator (Influence / Dominance):

They seek Social Victory. They want to lead the charge, but they need the crowd cheering.

Motto: "We need this. We’ll do this. Let them underestimate us."

Catalyst Example

JOHN F.KENNEDY: THE CATALYST

Motivator Example

RICHARD BRANSON: THE MOTIVATOR

Stories of How the Blend Works

The Task-Orientation of Henry Ford (D/C)

History often paints Ford as a populist HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

In 1914 — $5 was double the average industrial wage.  While seen as a "gift," it was actually a calculated 'D/C' move to reduce worker-turnover and ensure the "assembly line" never stopped.
for the $5 workday, but his internal reality was the Architect. He viewed humans as mechanical components.

"Why is it every time I ask for a pair of hands, they come with a human being attached?"     — Henry Ford

The Lesson:   Persons operating within the 'D/C' blend don't ignore your feelings because they are "mean"; they ignore them because—in their mosaic—feelings are perceived as "friction" in a high-efficiency system.

The Data-Guardianship of the C/D

Imagine a Lead Structural Engineer.  If the Project Manager ('D/I') tells them to "just sign off so we can meet the deadline,"  the 'C/D' will work late  to find
You will recall the "Blue" Conscientious behaviour of the High 'C' which, in this case, is the Engineer's compulsive urge to be correct, despite his commitment to meet the deadline, true to his 'D' requirements.
the one decimal point that is wrong.

The Point: To a C/D, a "claim" without "proof" is an insult to their professional integrity.

They speak a different 'language' — they view the world differently!
How can you get through to them better?  What resonates with them?
