Trainer's Bio

Trainer · Life Coach · Hypnotherapist · Corporate Leader

My name's Steve Farrugia  and my Mission is simple:  To help people climb towards whatever they consider to be "success".

Now I can't actually tell you what success means — because that's personal; it's different for every individual.  But once you understand yourself [your personality], what drives [or motivates] you  and what truly matters to you [your values],  then your goals suddenly become clear.

As a coach, I help people work out what they really want. Attaining clarity.

As a trainer, I give you the tools — the skills and knowledge — for the journey ahead.

But as we say at GladiatorTraining.biz, "to know stuff ... is not enough!"  Knowledge on its own is just a pile of ingredients. It only becomes useful once you apply it in your personal context,  in your everyday circumstances,  to achieve your own goals.

As a corporate leader, while I'm not the academic sort, yet I climbed from rock bottom  right up to the boardroom, over a span of some thirty years.  So I bring that real life experience, besides the important theory, to everything I teach.

The Strange Thing is This

Here's something people may find surprising:  my strongest qualification isn't a bunch of certificates. Of course, I've attended lots of great training, which I applied throughout my career.  But ultimately: it's my own “natural” weaknesses  that became my greatest strengths  as a Trainer.  Allow me to explain.

You see, I've walked the rough path myself, so I understand it well—from the perspective of the person who wasn’t “naturally” gifted—and that's exactly why I can help others walk the difficult path too.  Here's something that actually happened to me.

the late nite radio show

The late night show

A few years ago, I was a regular guest on a late-night radio programme and I was talking about “time management” and how to avoid procrastination.  My advice was: "Start with the easy tasks first."  Small 'wins' build momentum and confidence.

I know that feeling of dead weight at the start of the day, because I lived it myself.

The next guest was a politician — a natural-born ‘doer’ — and her advice was the opposite to mine:  "Eat that frog.  Start with the hardest task."

That would be good advice — if you're the sort whose engine already runs fast and focused.  But try telling that to someone who's still building their confidence and motivation, and you'll lose them before they even start.

That's the difference  and the whole point:  People who “naturally” find certain things easy  can't always explain how to make them easy for those who struggle.  I can — because I’ve had to learn it the hard way myself.  Here are a few examples:

By nature, I’m shy,  yet I perform with confidence.  I’ve delivered talks to diverse groups, moderated professional conferences, and appeared numerous times on TV shows.

By nature, I am slower paced,  but I’ve trained myself to always be punctual and productive.  Work and private life don’t have to run at the same efficiency.

That's what I bring to the training room:  My weaknesses .. conquered!

That's what you get: practical knowledge presented in a way that resonates from someone who's walked a similar road.
